The Epic DC Workshop with Sam Hurd

This was probably one of the best workshops I've ever attended. Seriously. I've been to many lectures, classes, and conferences in my life, but this one stuck like glue. Right now, it was exactly what I needed in my life. Every artist has flaws and finds ways to either adjust or get around them. I'm not going to say that this workshop fixed some of those issues but rather encouraged areas where I needed improvement.

Sam's approach to photography is very warm, soft, and welcoming. His positioning techniques made sense and offered a thought that maybe I'm over analyzing a lot of the time. Then again, that's just his view and it works really well for him.

I'm glad to have attended and participated in Sam's workshop because I would have definitely missed out. I had a chance to catch his workshop in Baltimore but fell short due to other projects and a busy schedule. When I heard he was coming to DC I knew I couldn't let this one slip. It was very inspiring. Photography is changing all the time and he made us very aware that one day we all might be shooting from our phones but to keep the artistic eye. He preached on being different and doing the complete opposite of everyone because those are the ones who stand out from all the rest. Easier said than done but it's a great formula. Below are some sample photographs I took at the workshop. Enjoy!
