This is the last post from my Route 50 trip across America. It was good to finally come home but I could have kept going. We woke up to play a round of golf in the rain and set off to the finish line in Ocean City, MD. I live in Silver Spring, MD but in order to make the trip completely official we had to drive to the end of Route 50. I've been to Ocean City many times as a native Marylander but never this late in the season. The boardwalk was closed and the weather was awful but we made it there in one piece.

It took us 16 days and about 3,800 miles or more to drive from San Francisco, CA to Ocean City, MD. Would I do it again? Absolutely. What would I do differently? I would research more about the Midwest and try to venture out onto different routes. We got very spoiled out in the west. My favorite part of the trip? Utah and the Arches National Park. Without a doubt one of the best places I've ever visited. So beautiful pictures can't even being to describe.

Never been to St. Luis or seen the Gateway Arch. Scratch those off the bucket list.
I always imagined the structure to be bigger in person than in pictures. Don't get me wrong, it's still 620 feet tall, so it isn't small. When I saw it in person I was reminded of the National Monument because they both appear bigger in pictures and compare in size. The Gateway Arch is only 75 feet taller. Anyways it's still a spectacular site to see.

From up top you can see downtown St. Luis and Illinois passed the Mississippi River. It is very small up there and not a lot of room to move around. Speaking of not a lot room, the elevators are like little eggs that pack 5 people in. If you're claustrophobic, that could be a problem.

After we left St. Luis and drove through Illinois for a while, we stayed at a town called Olney. Apparently it's home to the white squirrel and sure enough we did find some in the park.
