American Photographic Artists - Assistant Workshop - DC Chapter - Yolk Studios

As a member of the board for the APA DC Chapter, I had the pleasure of participating in our Second Annual Photo Assistant Workshop held at Yolk Studios in Hyattsville, MD. The workshop was an incredible opportunity to learn from experienced photographers and assistants about all equipment you would encounter on set, from grip to lighting to everything in between!

The morning of the workshop was spent with a detailed and hands-on lesson, where everyone in attendance got to experience the equipment and learn the ins and outs of it. The instructors shared their stories and experiences with each piece of equipment, which made the learning process informative and enjoyable.

The afternoon session consisted of putting our newly acquired skills to the test! We were able to assist in an actual shoot, which was a great way to learn how everything works together on an actual set. It was also a great way to network and meet new people in the industry.

One of my favorite parts of the event was recording videos to promote next year's workshop. I enjoyed helping out our chapter and contributing to the success of future events.

Overall, the Second Annual Photo Assistant Workshop was a fantastic experience. I am grateful to be a part of such a wonderful organization and to have had the opportunity to attend this event. I can't wait to see what's in store for next year's workshop!

Colonial Place / Washington, D.C.

I really don’t like to start with the whole “it’s been a while since I’ve blogged”, but it’s true. Everyone’s lives have been turned upside down and our motivation has been curbed. I’m one of the fortunate to still be working during these unfortunate times. After the new year, I wanted to focus more on commercial real estate and now that I have the time, I’ll be sharing some recent projects I’ve photographed since the pandemic arrived in America. Please note that I took all the precaution measures to be safe and capture every space.

Colonial Place consists of three impressive brick and glass towers offering 749,872 square feet of class “A” office space in the Courthouse area of Arlington, VA.  A variety of restaurants, shops, and hotels are within walking distance.  Colonial Place is just minutes from downtown Washington, DC via the Orange line Metro subway system which is accessible via an underground tunnel located on the property.  The complex is easily accessible from Virginia’s route 50 and Interstate 66 and less than 6 miles from Regan National Airport. - http://colonial-place.com
